The responsibilities associated with this role are:

  • maintenance of the SWAP system, including adding/updating new staff information, assisting the DoE with rollouts and loading of bulk information (L4 projects supervision teams, academic adviser list, PhD supervision)

  • integration of new functionalities

Administration automation #

These tasks allow the department to be much more effective in times of high pressure.

  • automatic registration of all straight forward student choices, detection of students with problematic registration choices for continuing and new students

  • creation of calendars for L4 seminars and vivas

  • creation of the L4 project teams, with supervisors and students, addition of external examiners after submission.

  • use information on SWAP to keep the staff list for all modules on Blackboard up to date

DCAD Faculty Consultation Committees (DFCC) #

The DFCC is responsible for providing a forum to discuss how DCAD can support and work with faculties and departments to support the enhancement of learning and teaching with a particular focus on digital learning and academic development. Via the DFCC Chair, the DFCC feeds into the business of DCAD and actions are reported through the Teaching and Learning Subcommittee of Education Committee.

The role is to:

  • raise any current or future issues from the department where support is needed;
  • offer feedback on any current initiatives DCAD is supporting;
  • feed into future thinking on the evolution of teaching and learning support at Durham.

Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Users Group #

The purpose of this group is to:

  • give staff the opportunity to feed back on technical issues;
  • identify priorities for additional functionality;
  • identify requirements for policy;
  • identify areas for additional pedagogic support, guidance and training.
